Under the CRS arm of the Joyce Ababio Design Foundation, the Joyce Ababio design club has been established to support schools in providing a well-rounded educational curriculum that touches on marketable creative skill sets.

The creative industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry with huge returns for every economy. It is one of the world’s most rapidly growing sectors, contributing to about 3% of the global GDP. As the first creative university in Ghana and beyond, we are partnering with colleges, and senior and junior high schools by setting up an extra curriculum design club that will bridge the skill and knowledge gap between Ghana and the rest of the world.

The program is an integral part of JACCD Design Institute Africa’s campaign on diversifying formal education, creating an interest in the creative sector among our youth, and making them aware of the opportunities available to them.

The first cohort will begin with 3 private schools and 3 government schools and is expected to be operational in January 2023.

We expect that members of the club will have acquired important life skills such as:

Organization and Leadership Skills
Time management skills
Care and Concern for the Community
Public Speaking and Presentation Skills
Good Sportsmanship
Entrepreneurial Skills
Critical thinking and Problem-Solving skills
Creative Arts Skills

The curriculum comprises thematic areas such as art and film appreciation, photography, fashion design, textile design, fine art, *gaming and animation, graphic design, *robotics, fashion illustration, entrepreneurship, and Journalism.
