The JACCD Design Institute Africa is a leading creative institution in West Africa, renowned for its impact on fashion and design education. What began as a small fashion school has now transformed into a full-fledged creative university, offering programs in fashion, graphic design, and other creative disciplines. THE JOURNEY
1995
VOGUESTYLE SCHOOL OF FASHION AND DESIGN
The journey began in 1995 with the establishment of the Vogue Style School of Fashion and Design. At the time, Ghana had very few formal institutions dedicated to fashion education, and Joyce Ababio sought to fill this gap by providing hands-on, industry-focused training. The school quickly gained a strong reputation for producing highly skilled graduates who went on to become major players in the fashion industry. Vogue Style School emphasized practical learning, ensuring that students mastered essential techniques such as garment construction, pattern-making, and fashion illustration.
2013
JOYCE ABABIO CENTER FOR CREATIVE DESIGN
In 2013, the school was rebranded as the Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design (JACCD) to reflect its expansion beyond fashion. This transformation allowed the institution to introduce new creative programs, including graphic design, photography, and interior design. With this shift, JACCD positioned itself as a multidisciplinary center for artistic innovation, attracting students from across Africa. The change also aligned with global trends in fashion education, where creativity and technology were becoming increasingly integrated. During this period, the college solidified its status as a hub for creative talent, producing graduates who would go on to redefine African fashion and design.

Today, the institution is known as JACCD Design Institute Africa, marking its transition into a fully-fledged creative university. Now, with an expanded curriculum, state-of-the-art facilities, and a strong emphasis on innovation, JACCD continues to shape the future of Africa’s creative industry. It remains the first private creative university in West Africa, producing alumni who are not only excelling in fashion but also making significant contributions in various creative fields.
